Officials with the Norwalk school district and First Student bus company are investigating allegations made by an 8-year-old bus passenger that the driver said Santa Claus didn't exist and Jesus was not born on Christmas Day, the Wilton Patch reported Monday.
Norwalk resident Louis Seeley filed a complaint with the Norwalk schools and First Student Wednesday but spokeswoman Jen Biddinger of First Student said not everything is what it seems, The Hartford (Conn.) Courant reported.
"We have no reason to believe that conversation took place as initially reported," Jen Biddinger of First Student said.
"The driver indicated that he was having a conversation with another student regarding his focus on other elements, other than gift-giving," during the holidays, Biddinger said. "He was saying 'It's much more than gift-giving.'"
Neither Seeley nor Emily Lopez, the principal of Columbus Magnet School, the child's school, could be reached for comment, the Courant said.
