PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 7 (UPI) -- A glitch allowed private photos of Facebook's chief executive Mark Zuckerberg to be shared with a photo site, Facebook revealed.

A statement released by the social network said the photos were images that Zuckerberg chose to remain private for his own personal reasons and didn't reveal anything overtly scandalous, PC Magazine reported Wednesday.

One of the photos shows Zuckerberg holding what appears to be a dead chicken. Others show the Facebook chief at home with friends and handing out candy on Halloween.

"Upon discovering the bug, we immediately disabled the system, and will only return functionality once we can confirm that the bug has been fixed," Facebook said in a statement released Tuesday.

The glitch comes one week after the Federal Trade Commission announced a settlement with Facebook that required the social network to be more transparent about its privacy policies.
