SAN DIEGO, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A San Diego judge ordered two of the men held without bond on charges related to a sophisticated drug tunnel between California and Mexico, prosecutors said.

Salvador Zuniga and Laureano Gonzalez appeared before a federal judge Thursday on conspiracy and distribution charges, They were arrested Tuesday in a raid on the tunnel, which connected a warehouse in San Diego's Otay Mesa industrial park with one in nearby Tijuana, Mexico, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Law enforcement officials say 32 tons of marijuana was confiscated.

Four other suspects are being charged in California's Central District.

The 600-yard drug tunnel, the second to be shutdown in the last two weeks, was found 40 feet below the surface. It was equipped with an elevator and rail system, prosecutors said.
