SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Burger King says it will join McDonald's in charging for kids meal toys to comply with San Francisco's ban on toy giveaways with fast food.

Kristen Hauser, a spokeswoman for Burger King, said Wednesday the toys will be available for an additional 10 cents, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The new law, which went into effect Thursday, bars chain restaurants in San Francisco from giving out free toys with menu items intended for children that don't meet strict nutritional standards, the newspaper said.
