
MECHANICSVILLE, Md., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- A bus carrying a girls' high school basketball team ran off a road in Maryland, injuring at least 17 people, including 15 students, police said.
The crash occurred in St. Mary's County, Md., Tuesday night when a Dodge truck and a Ford Fusion collided at an intersection in Mechanicsville, WJLKA-TV , Arlington, Va., reported.
A bus from Great Mills High School came along at the same time and left the roadway after striking the Ford.
Fifteen students, one adult and the school bus driver were all taken to the hospital with minor injuries. They were treated and released.
The Ford driver and a 13-year-old passenger were also taken to the hospital.
Police charged the driver of the Dodge, John Patrick Kravats, 45, of Mechanicsville with driving under the influence. He suffered minor injuries.
