WASHINGTON, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- An Idaho man facing federal charges he tried to assassinate President Obama by shooting at the White House was ordered held without bond Monday.

Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, 21, of Idaho Falls, who was arrested in Pennsylvania and transported to Washington last week, appeared before Magistrate Judge Alan Kay, who appointed a public defender and ordered a mental evaluation for him at a preliminary hearing, The Washington Times reported.

The next court date for Ortega-Hernandez is scheduled for Nov. 28.

The Secret Service alleges two bullets were fired from an assault weapon Ortega-Hernandez fired Nov. 11. One of the bullets struck an exterior window of the first family's living quarters.

The alleged gunman's father, Jose, said his son thought the world was going to end 11/11/11, the New York Daily News reported.

Ortega-Hernandez also made a videotape in which he claimed to be Jesus Christ, The Washington Post reported.

"It's not just a coincidence that I look like Jesus. I am the modern-day Jesus Christ that you all have been waiting for," Ortega-Hernandez said in the 20-minute video shot by Idaho University student Ramon Bailey.

Bailey said he never edited the video and stopped returning Ortega-Hernandez's calls because found the contents so disturbing, the Post reported.
