Neighbors complain of smell, San Francisco bacon restaurant shut down
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 16 (UPI) -- An Orlando, Fla., teenager was charged for staging his own kidnapping to get a ransom from his father, Delray Beach police said.
The 17-year-old male disappeared from a celebrity tennis tournament in Delray Beach Sunday, then allegedly called his father, claiming his captors demanded $500,000 for his release, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Tuesday.
Delray Beach police detectives and FBI agents tracked the teenager and another suspect, Joshua Andre Pee, 23, to a motel in Delray Beach Tuesday, officers said. Pee fled and tried to break into a house but was apprehended.
Police said Pee denied trying to extort money from the teen's father. He was charged with the burglary of an occupied dwelling and resisting arrest, a police report indicated.
The teenager was charged with grand theft, the report said.
