LAKESIDE, Calif., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Four masked gunmen tried but failed to steal a glass case containing cash from a California casino by chaining it to a vehicle and driving off, police said.
Witnesses said the men wrapped a chain around the case at Barona Casino in Lakeside just after 2 a.m. PST Wednesday and tried to pull it with a sport utility vehicle but never got it out the door,, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The men took cash from the case after one of them fired a shot at it, sheriff's Sgt. Tom Poulin said.
Poulin said the SUV with a duffel bag of money inside was found about a mile from the casino.
He said investigators believe the men got into another vehicle and fled.
No injuries were reported.
