Mormon missionaries killed in hit-and-run

DONNA, Texas, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- A man who allegedly drove away after striking three bicycle-riding Mormon missionaries in Texas, killing two of them, faces a felony charge, police say.

The suspect surrendered at a border station in Progresso, Texas, the Deseret News of Salt Lake City reported. Texas Trooper Johnny Hernandez said the man is likely to be charged with failing to stop and give assistance.

"Especially when you cause a fatal accident like that -- or injuries -- you need to stay at the location," Hernandez said.

Trevor Reinhold Strong, 21, of Taylorsville, Utah, and Derek Jason Walker, 20, of Fairfield, Idaho, were killed Tuesday evening after being hit by a car in Donna in southeast Texas. Zachary Todd Harris, 19, of Huntsville, Ala., was injured and was released from the hospital Wednesday after an overnight stay.
