Teen killed in iPhone robbery attempt

NEW YORK, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- A 17-year-old student in New York City was fatally stabbed after a group of teens demanded his iPhone, police said.

Police said Patrick Dixon, 17, a student at Thomas Edison High School, was approached by four to six teens who demanded his iPhone about 11 a.m. Friday on 142nd Street near Foch Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens, the New York Post reported.

Dixon refused to hand over the iPhone and when he fought back, one of the teens stabbed him in the neck, the Post reported. The teens fled, leaving behind the iPhone.

Dixon died in an ambulance on the way to a Jamaica hospital.

Police were searching for Dixon's attackers, the New York Daily News reported.
