CHICAGO, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- The wife of ex-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has asked his backers to write letters of support before Blagojevich is sentenced for his corruption conviction.

Patti Blagojevich wrote on a Facebook page that the family has received "so many requests" from people wanting to help her husband before he is sentenced, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday.

Blagojevich, 54, was convicted of 17 counts of corruption in June. A sentencing date hasn't been set. Prosecutors, who have not made a recommendation to the judge, have calculated the former governor's potential sentence at 30 years to life in prison.

"We have been getting so many requests from people who would like to help us by writing a letter to the judge for sentencing that I would like to post the e-mail of one of our attorneys Aaron Goldstein," Patti Blagojevich wrote when listing the e-mail address. "He would be able to help you with how to get the letter to the right place. Thank you to all of you who have supported us during this hard time. Rod and Patti and Amy and Annie."

Some of Patti Blagojevich's 1,500 Facebook friends posted their support on the page.

"I say Rod for president!" one woman wrote. "We need someone good in the White House! Patti, thanks for sending the e-mail. The letter will get out ASAP!!"
