Body said to be of missing Md. 11-year-old

CLARKBURG, Md., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Police say they believe a body found in Maryland Tuesday is that of a missing 11-year-old boy and his estranged stepfather is the prime suspect in his death.

The say they believe the body of William McQuain had been in woods off Route 121 in Clarksburg since Oct. 1, Washington's WUSA-TV reported.

The boy's stepfather, Curtis Lopez, was arrested Thursday in Charlotte, N.C., and charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of the boy's mother, found dead in her Germantown, Md., apartment the day before.

After finding Jane McQuain's body, police issued an Amber Alert for the boy.

Police said a video from a storage facility showed Lopez and William McQuain together on the day police believe the boy was killed, with William wearing the same clothing found on the body discovered in the woods Tuesday.

There was no sign on the video of Lopez trying harm William in any way, police said.
