PHOENIX, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Prosecutors in the trial of alleged "Baseline Killer" Mark Goudeau say the 47-year-old Arizona man is a human predator.

The alleged serial killer, charged in a series of killings and sexual assaults along Baseline Rd. in the Phoenix area, has already been convicted of 19 felonies and is currently on trial for 72 counts, including nine alleged murders that occurred between 2005 and 2006, The Arizona Republic reported Wednesday.

"For a year, this defendant terrorized our valley," Deputy Maricopa County Attorney Patricia Stevens said Monday in her closing statement. "He is a human predator with an appetite to rape, to control and, ultimately, to kill."

The defense will make its final statements Tuesday. The jury was expected to get the case by late afternoon.

All but two of the 33 victims were females and most of the victims were Hispanic, the newspaper said.
