TRENTON, N.J., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie Tuesday endorsed former Massachusetts Gov Mitt Romney for president, Politico reported.

Christie, who last week passed on running for the Republican nomination, instead threw his support to the front-runner, an unidentified Romney official confirmed to the Washington publication.

The endorsement came hours before Romney and the other GOP candidates are to square off in another debate in New Hampshire.
