CHICAGO, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- The body of a teenage boy slain by serial killer John Wayne Gacy in the 1970s will be exhumed for DNA testing to confirm his identity, an Illinois judge ruled.
Cook County Judge Rita Novak said discrepancies between a 1979 autopsy report and Michael Marino's medical records warrant another look at the case, especially in light of advancements in medical science, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.
Michael's mother, Sherry, says she has always wondered if the body buried at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, Ill., is really her son who disappeared in 1976 at the age of 14.
The family will pay for the exhumation and DNA testing, the report said.
Gacy, one of the country's most notorious serial killers, was convicted of killing 33 young men and boys.
