Michelle Obama visits Secret Service HQ

WASHINGTON, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Michelle Obama visited the U.S. Secret Service headquarters Wednesday and said the agents assigned to the White House have become a second family.

The first lady described the Secret Service as "always 100 percent on point" and said having agents in the White House is "like having family around."

"That is important when you're trying to live a normal life and raise a couple of girls in the White House," she said.

Obama has been making the rounds of federal agencies. She was applauded Wednesday when she appeared with Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan in a conference room packed with 200 employees.

A spokesman said she was given a tour of some headquarters operations.

"The work you do here is pretty scary," she told employees. "Let's just say that. All I can say is after my little tour -- ignorance is bliss. I just don't wanna know. You all can handle all that. Just tell me where to run."
