VALDOSTA, Ga., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Investigators believe smoke killed three young children who died this weekend in a Georgia house fire.
The youngsters, ages 1, 4 and 5, died Saturday when fire broke out in the kitchen of a home in Valdosta that apparently did not have smoke detectors.

Deputy Coroner Walter Wacter told the Valdosta Daily Times an adult male and a 7-year-old boy escaped the pre-dawn fire; however, the younger children were apparently overcome by smoke.
The fire remained under investigation by the Valdosta police and fire departments.
