GREEN BAY, Wis., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin cemetery worker who said he respected "fine musical instruments" has admitted stealing a guitar from a dead man's casket, police said.

Steven Conard of Green Bay was arrested on charges of theft from a corpse and his wife Heather was charged with obstructing justice after the missing guitar was found at their home, WITI-TV, Milwaukee, reported.

"This isn't something I normally do, I just have a respect for fine musical instruments," Conard told police.

The cemetery director said an employee became suspicious about the guitar in the late Randall Jourdan's casket after hearing Conard say that such an expensive instrument didn't belong in a crypt.

Police were called after the employee opened the casket and found the guitar missing.
