Thousands of snakes killed in fire

LITTLETON, Colo., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Thousands of exotic snakes were killed when a fire swept through a reptile store in Littleton, Colo., officials said.

Investigators say they're trying to determine the cause of the fire, which started early Monday morning and burned through Pro Exotics and five other businesses in an industrial park, KDVR-TV, Denver, reported.

Former NFL player Chad Brown is the owner of the reptile store. He said about 3,000 snakes, including 2,000 African Bald Pythons, were killed. The only survivor, a boa constrictor, was taken to a veterinarian for treatment.

Investigators said it appears the fire was accidental.
