Obama golfs with Bill Clinton

WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton spent Saturday afternoon golfing together.

Pool reporters were kept at bay, allowed only a brief glimpse of Obama and Clinton, who sported a bright red shirt, climbing onto a golf cart at one point of their outing. Obama Chief of Staff Bill Daley and Clinton staffer Doug Band rounded out the foursome at the Andrews Air Force Base golf course.

"President Clinton and President Obama enjoyed their round of golf at Joint Base Andrews today," White House spokesman Josh Earnest and Clinton spokesman Matt McKenna said in a joint statement. "Periodically, over the last 2 1/2 years, they've gotten together to discuss the unique honor and extraordinary opportunity to lead this country. They were pleased to have the chance to visit once again today."

Obama was to deliver remarks at the CBC Foundation Annual Phoenix Awards at the Washington Convention Center Saturday evening. First lady Michelle Obama also was to attend.
