Vintage plane crashes at W.Va. air show

MARTINSBURG, W.Va., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A T-28 Trojan military aircraft crashed Saturday during the "Thunder over the Blue Ridge" air show in Martinsburg, W.Va., officials said.

The West Virginia National Guard said no one was injured on the ground and the fate of the pilot was unknown after the 1950s-vintage, single-engine military trainer crashed about 2:30 p.m., Washington-area television station WUSA reported on its Web site.

The pilot was taking part in a six-plane formation saluting the armed forces when he crashed, The (Martinsburg) Journal reported.

National Guard and Federal Aviation Administration officials were investigating.
