Calif. man jailed after explosives found

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- A California man has been charged with keeping a stash of weapons and explosives in his home in San Jose.

Police searched Mark Sedlock's house Tuesday after getting a tip from a neighbor that the 63-year-old man fired weapons in his back yard and boasted of having bombs, the San Jose Mercury News reported. The block was evacuated for about 12 hours while the property was searched, with residents only allowed to return to their homes at 11 p.m.

Sedlock has been charged with making criminal threats, eight counts of illegal possession of explosives and other counts of weapons and ammunition violations. San Jose police said he is a convicted felon who was banned from possessing explosives.

Tiffany Mays, a next-door neighbor, said she filed the complaint that led to the search. She said Sedlock was jailed last year after he threatened her sister.

"He carried his guns around, bragging about his AK," Mays said.
