WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, will appear on television for the first time since Giffords was injured.

The special, set to air Nov. 14, will chronicle Gifford's recovery from her near fatal gunshot wound, ABC News reported.

The congresswoman was at a constituency meet-and-greet in Tuscon, Ariz., Jan. 8 when a gunman opened fire on the crowd. Six people were killed and 13 injured, including Giffords.

The broadcast will also include a segment on Gifford's and Kelly's courtship, marriage and careers in public service.

The special will air in conjunction with the publication of Giffords memoir, "Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope."
