Muslims miffed at Seattle FBI presentation

SEATTLE, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Muslims who attended a community meeting with Seattle law enforcement officials had bad reviews for the FBI's delegation.

There were only about 20 people at the Saturday workshop, but they had plenty of complaints about a presentation made by two agents on the bureau's intelligence work within the Muslim community.

"When you say you don't profile -- and our reality is you do -- you negate everything else you say," Jeff Siddiqui, a member of the American Muslims of Puget Sound, told the agents.

The Seattle Times said the presentation got off to a rough start with a photo of a Muslim religious leader that appeared to be a stock shot of someone in Muslim clothing. The newspaper said the agents admitted they did not know who the individual was.

A police detective interjected, saying Muslims were getting tired of seeing their pictures associated with terrorism.

"I was ready to walk out, but this is exactly why we need to do things like this," event organizer Amin Odeh told the Times. "Maybe in their eyes they're small things, but to the community they're huge things."
