LOS ANGELES, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A California man is in custody for reportedly putting a fake explosive device concealed in a suitcase on a Los Angeles bus, police say.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department says Eugenio Paredes, 62, was arrested for making terrorist threats and for possession of a hoax explosive device Saturday, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Passengers were evacuated and detours were created around the intersection where the bus was examined by detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Arson/Explosives Detail in Koreatown.
