CHICAGO, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- An attorney for former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says his client's sentencing date may be changed because it conflicts with a related trial.

The trial of William Cellini, a political power broker accused of conspiring to extort campaign contributions for Blagojevich, is set to begin Oct. 3 -- three days before the former governor's sentencing by the same judge.

Blagojevich lawyer Sheldon Sorosky told the Chicago Sun-Times he wouldn't be surprised if the judge changes his client's sentencing date.

If it is not changed, U.S. District Judge James Zagel would likely have to pause the Cellini trial after jury selection to begin what is expected to be the lengthy sentencing of Blagojevich, who was convicted of corruption, the newspaper said.
