Couple, relative killed in store robbery

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- The owner of a Philadelphia grocery store, his wife and sister-in-law were shot and killed Tuesday in an apparent robbery, police said.

The triple homicide at Lorena's Grocery in the West Philadelphia neighborhood occurred just after 8 p.m. EDT, WPVI-TV, Philadelphia, reported. Police said the killings were carried out by two men who gunned down the owner, Porfirio Nunez, in the front part of the store and then shot the two women in the back section.

"Right now it is believed that they did not resist at all," Police Capt. James Clark said, "It's just an all out assassination."

The women were identified as Nunez's wife, Carmen, and her sister, Lina.

Neighbors said the family had been at the store for a decade.

"They always gave to the neighborhood, like if you needed something they were there," Dorothy Mickens, who lives nearby, told WPVI.
