Obama's illegal immigrant uncle had Social Security number

BOSTON, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- An uncle of U.S. President Barack Obama has a valid Social Security number and driver's license despite being an illegal immigrant, records indicate.

Obama Onyango, 67, was arrested on drunken driving charges last week after he failed a Breathalyzer test in Framingham, Mass, The Boston Globe reported Tuesday.

He was being held without bail on a federal immigration warrant pending deportation to Kenya.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles confirmed the president's uncle has had a valid Massachusetts driver's license and Social Security number for at least 19 years.

A spokesman for Margaret Wong, Onyango's immigration attorney, said he didn't know how Onyango obtained a Social Security number.

Wong is the same lawyer who represented the president's aunt Zeituni Onyango in her fight to win asylum last year.

Obama Onyango is the half-brother of the president's father and the brother of Zeituni Onyango.
