SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Eight Republican presidential candidates say they've agreed to take part in the upcoming Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation debate in California.

Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum will appear at the Reagan presidential library in Simi Valley Sept. 7, Politico reported Thursday.

The debate will be Perry's first since he announced his candidacy Aug. 13.

To be eligible to participate in the debate, candidates had to have formally announced their candidacy and captured at least 4 percent in one of eight national polls.

The debate will be carried live on MSNBC and Politico said it would stream the event live on its Web site.
