INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- The family of a woman who died of injuries from the collapse of a stage in Indiana said her organs will be donated so she can touch lives "through her passing."

Meagan Toothman, 24, a cheerleading coach from the Cincinnati area, died Monday after her family arranged to donate her organs, The Indianapolis Star reported.

She had been in a coma at Methodist Hospital since the stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair Aug. 13. Her death was the seventh resulting from the accident.

Her family said in a statement that Meagan's organs "will provide gifts of sight, health, and life to dozens who are in need."

"The outpouring of love and hope was more than we could possibly expect and was an inspiration to all of us to keep her fighting," the family said. "We hope that she will continue to touch more lives in the same way through her passing."

It is believed as many as a dozen people remain hospitalized from the accident, the Star said.

One of the youngest is 10-year-old Jade Walcott of Fort Mitchell, Ky., who suffered head trauma and was placed in a medically induced coma at Riley Hospital for Children.

Until she wakes up, her family won't know whether her memory and speech have been affected.
