Stolen tombstones show up in back yard

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Sheriff's deputies in San Bernardino, Calif., found 24 stolen tombstones in a back yard while serving a search warrant in a narcotics investigation.

Authorities are now trying to identify the markers to they can be matched to the proper grave sites, The (Riverside, Calif.) Press-Enterprise reports.

The granite slabs, values at $48,000, were found in a back yard during the Tuesday investigation.

"While in the back yard, ... deputies noticed several tombstones lying around," investigators said in a written statement. "The tombstones had been stolen from the Montecito Cemetery in ... Colton."

Jail records show that John Orville Bleuer, 50 was arrested during the search on charges of methamphetamine sales and firearm possession and was being held on $50,000 bail.
