NEW YORK, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Left-wing U.S. billionaire George Soros is being sued by an ex-girlfriend, a Brazilian beauty who says Soros reneged on a promise to give her an apartment.
Soap opera star Adriana Ferreyr filed a $50 million suit in New York's Manhattan Supreme Court Wednesday, saying among other things that Soros, just turning 80, slapped her around when they were in bed talking about the alleged promise, the New York Post reported.
Ferreyr said in the suit she had dated the real estate mogul for about five years before he dumped her last year. When they reconciled, he whispered into her ear he had given the apartment to another woman, the suit said.
Soros is worth about $14.5 billion, the Post said. The Upper East Side apartment in question is worth $1.9 million.
Soros' lawyer William Zabel said the suit is "frivolous and entirely without merit," the Post said.
The newspaper said Ferreyr was a child actor who became a star in Brazil on the soap opera "Marisol," but now is studying economics and philosophy at Columbia University.
