Sarah Palin to visit Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, Iowa, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Conservative Republican Sarah Palin, mulling a run for president, says she will make an appearance at the Iowa State Fair as part of her One Nation Tour.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate had not been anticipated in Iowa before her address at a Tea Party gathering Labor Day weekend, but she announced a stop at the fair this weekend in an e-mail to supporters, The Hill reported.

"We are very happy to jump back on the bus for another leg of our "One Nation Tour"! We accept with gratefulness an invitation to meet folks at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines this week," the e-mail said.

The appearance at the fair could potentially take away attention from a straw poll in Ames on Saturday, where announced Republican candidates are hoping to gain momentum, Politico reported.

Palin's planned visit may also upstage a debate Thursday night that includes nearly all of the Republican candidates, including Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman, who are not part of the straw poll, CBS News reported.
