AMES, Iowa, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. comedian Stephen Colbert's political action committee released a TV ad Wednesday urging Ames Straw Poll voters to write in "Rick Parry," not Rick Perry.

"A storm is gathering over Iowa, a money storm. Out-of-state groups like Grow PAC and Jobs for Iowa PAC are flooding the Iowa airwaves, telling you to vote [Texas Gov.] Rick Perry at the Ames Straw Poll. They think they can buy your vote with their unlimited superPAC money but Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow asks -- what about our unlimited superPAC money?" Colbert's ad states, ABC News reported.

"We want you to vote for Rick Perry too, but not their Rick Perry. Our Rick Parry. On August 13th, write in Rick Parry -- that's Parry with an A for America, with an A for Iowa."

"I called dibs on Rick Parry a long time ago," Colbert said in a release. "I recognized that he's got the tough talk, the cowboy boots, and the history-of-shooting-coyotes-during-morning-jogs that our country needs. So if anybody is going to be taking unlimited donations and then not be coordinating with his campaign, it's going to be not us. So to prove we're truly uncoordinated, we're asking voters to write in Parry with an A -- as in America, IowA, or PresidAnt. You can feel confident he's not asking us to do that."
