Two die in Wisconsin ultralight crash

REEDSBURG, Wis., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- A pilot and a passenger in an ultralight aircraft died Wednesday when they crashed shortly after takeoff from a municipal airport in Wisconsin, police said.

The single-engine Quad Cities Challenger II aircraft took off from Reedsburg Municipal Airport at 11:16 a.m. before crashing, Reedsburg police told the Chicago Tribune.

Police and the Federal Aviation Administration were investigating the cause of the crash, and the National Transportation Safety Board was preparing its own investigation, the newspaper said.

The ultralight was registered to an owner from Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
