STEWARTSTOWN, N.H., July 29 (UPI) -- The FBI and Royal Canadian Mounted Police joined a search for an 11-year-old American girl who vanished from her home near the Canadian border, officials said.
Celina Cass disappeared Monday and searchers sought clues by going door-to-door in the small New Hampshire town of Stewartstown, which is about a mile from the border, the Boston Herald reported Friday.
The girl was last seen about 9 p.m. as she sat in front of a computer in her home, investigators said.
"Is it someone from up here? Is it an Internet predator? We just don't know," said Debbie Whelan, who dialed 911 after Celina's older sister Kayla came to her house looking for the missing girl Tuesday morning.
Whelan said residents of the town, which has a population of about 800, are now locking their doors.
"It's a big world and she's a small girl and she's only 11. She doesn't know how to handle herself," Stewartstown resident Shahannah Fuller told ABC News.
The missing girl's mother and stepfather declined to speak with the media and requested "absolute privacy."
