Obama approval rating average unchanged

PRINCETON, N.J., July 21 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama's sub-50 percent approval rating changed little between his ninth and 10th quarters in office, Gallup said Thursday.

Obama earned a 46.8 percent average approval rating in his 10th quarter in office, essentially unchanged from the 46.7 percent average approval rating 9th quarter, results indicated.

The average approval rating was still above his low of 44.7 percent in the seventh quarter, Gallup said.

The 10th quarter is the sixth straight quarter Obama received less than majority approval, the Princeton, N.J., polling agency said.

Gallup said it was too soon to tell what the average approval rating would mean for Obama in the 2012 election.

Results are based on nationwide telephone interviews conducted with 45,100 adults as part of Gallup Daily tracking April 20-July 19. The margin of error is 1 percentage point.
