CHAMBERSBURG, Pa., June 27 (UPI) -- A church bus carrying 16 children to summer camp struck a guardrail and flipped, but God protected everyone aboard, the pastor of the Pennsylvania church said.
Investigators said the bus was forced to move out of the center lane of Interstate 81 near Chambersburg Sunday by the driver of another car and when it did so it struck the railing and flipped over, the Chambersburg (Pa.) Public Opinion reported Monday.
"The Lord protected and watched over us," the Rev. Mike Sanders said of the accident.
Sanders said Good Samaritans pulled over to assist and opened the emergency door on the bus, allowing the passengers, including six adults, escape.
About 50 firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to the accident. None of the injuries was serious.
"I'm just thankful that the extent of injuries -- bumps, bruises, some broken bones, some shoulders was all it was," Sanders said. "A lot of heroes."
