Man kills wife, son, then commits suicide

WARRINGTON, Pa., June 19 (UPI) -- Police say a Pennsylvania man beat his wife and son to death with a baseball bat in his upscale home before committing suicide by lying on a train track.

Officials said they're looking for motive in the Friday night killing in Warrington of Irina Geller Moyer and her 7-year-old son Dillon. Warrington police said Christopher Moyer, 44, beat his wife and son to death with a baseball bat before taking his own life.

Police said was Moyer was remarkably polite when he notified them of the killings, but by the time they reached the home, he was gone, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Sunday. Moyer left a typewritten note on his front door with the names and telephone numbers of relatives to contact about the deaths.

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler said Moyer texted a relative after the killings, saying he was sorry for what he had done.

About 1 a.m. Saturday Hatboro police received a call that a passenger train had struck a man there. Moyers had $1,300 in his pocket and his Camry was parked nearby.

Authorities said there was no history of domestic violence between Moyer and his wife, but the couple did have financial problems. They avoided foreclosure on their approximately $500,000 home in 2006 and paid off a federal lien filed that year as well, the newspaper said.
