TAMPA, Fla., June 16 (UPI) -- Three Republican members of Florida's congressional delegation backed Mitt Romney's presidential bid Thursday as he campaigned in the state.

Romney, who has made the economy his top issue, held a meeting for small-business owners and people looking for work at a Tampa coffee shop, Buddy Brew, The Washington Post reported.

The former Massachusetts governor is leading the crowded Republican field in polls. A Wall Street Journal-NBC poll released Wednesday showed him with the support of 30 percent of Republicans, with Sarah Palin, who has not said if she will run, coming in second with 14 percent.

Romney did even better when those surveyed were asked to pick from a smaller field, winning 43 percent of the vote.

He has a heavy fundraising schedule for the rest of the month. In the next few days, he will be making a circuit of western states, including California.
