WASHINGTON, June 14 (UPI) -- U.S. House Speaker John Boehner has weighed in on whether Rep. Anthony Weiner should resign, saying one word: "Yes."

He gave reporters the one-word answer when they questioned home outside a Cannon House Building conference room on whether the embattled Weiner should step down, Politico reported.

Boehner, R-Ohio, tersely joined a chorus of other politicians who say the New York Democrat should resign after revelations of sexually charged conversations with women on the Internet, and revealing photos of Weiner sent to some women were made public by a conservative blogger.

Even President Barack Obama said Monday, in an interview broadcast on NBC's "Today" show, that if he were in Weiner's place he would quit.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., and some Democratic lawmakers, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., say Weiner should resign his Queens- and Brooklyn-based House seat.

Weiner hasn't stepped down, saying instead he is going into treatment.
