Doomsday preacher suffers stroke

OAKLAND, Calif., June 13 (UPI) -- The California preacher who predicted the world would end last month was released from the hospital Monday following treatment for a stroke, a spokeswoman said.

Harold Camping, 89, who admitted he made a mistake in calculating the end of the world as May 21, fell ill Thursday and was released from the hospital Monday, The Christian Post reported. He has since recalculated the end of the world as coming Oct. 21.

"We will be airing pre-recorded programs of Open Forum until further notice," an operator for Camping's Family Radio said.

Camping's wife Shirley told the Post the stroke was mild.
