Jaycee Dugard transcript released

PLACERVILLE, Calif., June 4 (UPI) -- The transcript of Jaycee Dugard's grand jury testimony was released Friday, providing more description of her years in captivity in Antioch, Calif.

Superior Court Judge Douglas Phimister unsealed most of the transcript after Dugard's kidnappers, Phillip and Nancy Garrido, were sentenced Thursday, the Los Angeles Times reported. The judge refused to release some portions including graphic descriptions Dugard gave of being raped by Garrido.

Dugard described her abduction in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., when she was an 11-year-old schoolgirl, the long car trip to the Garridos' compound and the years in which Garrido used her as a sexual slave. She said the last time was when her younger daughter was conceived.

She also talked about living in a shed with her daughters, who were told she was their sister.

"Phillip wanted us to be a family," Dugard testified. "He was our dad, and Nancy was their mom."

Dugard remained with the Garridos for 18 years. She said she did not try to escape because she was afraid and later because she did not know how she could support herself and her daughters.

Dugard's memoir, "A Stolen Life," is scheduled to be published July 12.
