ONTARIO, Calif., June 3 (UPI) -- California police say the smelly 30-gallon trash container Carmen Montenegro was pushing down the street contained parts of her former boyfriend's body.

Police said the headless and armless body in the garbage container is that of Samuel Winnings Jr., 63, who was reported missing May 1, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

Montenegro reportedly abandoned the container a block from her cousin's home in Ontario Sunday. Investigators discovered the dismembered remains inside and later determined Winnings' body had been sawed into pieces, with the head and arms placed inside two flowerpots.

David Hidalgo, a San Bernardino County supervising deputy district attorney, said Montenegro had buried some of the body parts at her cousin's home. She allegedly decided to move the head and arms to another location because they could be used to identify the victim.
