Phillip Dugard, 60, a lifelong sexual predator, was sentenced to 431 years to life, and his wife, Nancy, 55, to 36 years to life, the Contra Costa Times reported. Both pleaded guilty last month in El Dorado County, where Dugard was abducted in 1991 when she was an 11-year-old schoolgirl in South Lake Tahoe.
Dugard did not appear at the hearing. Her mother, Terry Probyn, read a statement in her place.
"I chose not to be here today because I refuse to waste another second of my life in your presence," Dugard said.
When Dugard was found in 2009, she was living in a shed on the Garridos' property in Antioch, Calif., with the two daughters she bore by Garrido. She now lives with her daughters in northern California and has made almost no public statements about her ordeal.
A memoir is scheduled for release in July.
The Garridos renamed Dugard Alyssa. She worked in a printing business they ran from their home and had some contact with the outside world.
