NEW YORK, May 19 (UPI) -- Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney has finished writing his memoir, a 544-page book described as "clear eyed history" by a former aide.
An Aug. 30 release date for "In My Time: A Personal and Political Memoir" was announced Wednesday, Politico reported.
The book is co-authored by his daughter, Liz Cheney.
Former aide Mary Matalin, who is publishing the book under her Threshold Edition imprint at Simon & Schuster, called it "an important reflection on where we are and how we got there."
"As his vice presidency was novel, Dick Cheney's memoir is unique, in its scope and depth and honesty, with the lagniappe of one-of-a kind daughter/partner production; clear eyed history and forward analysis," Matalin told Politico.
"Oh yeah, pick your metaphor: sacred cows, ruffled feathers, broken eggs," she said.
Cheney, 70, who has suffered several heart attacks, said earlier this month he hasn't decided whether to undergo a heart transplant. He is expected to do publicity for the book when it is released.
