Minister Faces Murder Charge in Love Triangle Death: MyFoxTWINCITIES.com

MINNEAPOLIS, May 17 (UPI) -- A Minneapolis minister killed a man he saw having dinner with his estranged wife, authorities say.

Derrick Griffin, 40, an associate pastor at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, was charged Monday with second-degree intentional murder for the May 10 shooting of Kristopher Miller, 28, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

He is in the Hennepin County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail and is to appear in court Tuesday. County Attorney Mike Freeman said he will convene a grand jury to seek first-degree murder charges because the killing was premeditated.

Police say Griffin, separated from his wife Kim, watched her from his car as she dined with Miller at a restaurant.

After Miller went home, he was gunned down. There were no witnesses, but neighbors reported hearing gunshots. Miller's mother found his body on the front steps of his apartment building.

Freeman said cellphone records, a bullet taken from Miller's body and surveillance camera footage helped solve the crime.

Police say a search of Griffin's Cadillac and his girlfriend's home found several handguns. A shell casing from one of them, a .38-caliber, matched a bullet found in Miller's body in the autopsy.
