Police: Son shot parents over $5

MEQUON, Wis., April 25 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin man has been charged with shooting his parents dead after they refused to give him $5 for gas.

Dennis Markov, 20, of Mequon, was charged Thursday with the murder of Victor Markov, 45, and his wife, Larissa, 39, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Investigators said he used a .22 caliber rifle to shoot the victims in the back of the head April 17 after a family fight.

The bodies were discovered April 19 in their garage. Co-workers at the senior citizens community where Larissa Markov worked became concerned when she did not show up April 17, and a security guard called police and said she was totally reliable and never missed a shift.

The newspaper obtained a report that showed police were called to the Markov home last year because of a similar dispute, also involving $5. Officers who responded to the earlier report found Victor Markov restraining his son.

Dennis Markov, then 19, was charged with underage drinking and possession of drug paraphernalia.

"Dennis, who was drinking without his parents' permission, was not obeying the house rules, and his father thought Dennis might escalate to violence so he held his son," Mequon Police Officer Mark Riley said in his report. "Officer spoke to Dennis who said he did not get the 5 dollars he asked for and was mad."
