WASHINGTON, April 12 (UPI) -- The United States' capital is getting its own beer for the first time in 55 years, a local brewer says.
DC Brau said on its Web site it will serve up its first pints of its Public pale ale Friday at Meridian Pint and then begin deliveries to other bars Monday.
The brewers describe their flagship beverage as a "delicious easy drinking pale ale made from a simple recipe of quality grain and top notch American hops. Tawny hues of caramel and amber are a trademark of the Public ale as well as a delicious spruce crispness resulting from a beautiful abundance of hops!"
The Washington Post said DC Brau had been teasing the District, which hasn't had a locally brewed beer since 1956, for the past year with its Capitol dome logo on stickers and T-shirts.
