FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., April 10 (UPI) -- A spring snowstorm covered northern Arizona with a foot of snow and partly closed Interstate 17 for eight hours, authorities said.
Northbound lanes of I-17 near Flagstaff were shut from early Saturday morning until early afternoon, The Arizona Daily Sun of Flagstaff reported.
Snow fell to elevations below 4,000 feet, and the Arizona Snowbowl ski resort in the San Francisco Peaks reported more than 28 inches by 1 p.m. Saturday.
State Police reported two deaths in a vehicle accident on eastbound I-40 about 15 miles east of Flagstaff at 3:23 a.m. Saturday.
Many minor accidents also were reported in the area.
Flagstaff reported clear skies and temperatures in the 30s Sunday afternoon.
